onpointsystemsParticipantSo i did an active scan survey of two rooms using the active scanning via HTTP option and left the default settings. The download speed at the location is 150 mbps however, the results of the active scan HTTP test show me the download tested at 6 mbps and places the covered area in yellow indicating slow download speed. Everything else is great, green coverage all around, perfect noise to signal ration, etc… However, connected to the same WiFi, I can download a 583 MB file in in 30 seconds which puts the download throughput at 163 mbps. In the survey settings I am “not” selecting also test additional networks. I am leaving it at the default of scan the connected WiFi.
Can some please explain why I am seeing this huge discrepancy?
Thanks.

pjcParticipantIf you’re using the default settings, you’re connecting to NetSpot’s servers over your internet connection, which I would expect to be far below 150 mbps.
Halfway down this article they discuss using self-hosted PHP scripts, which would let you test throughput on your LAN: /help/active-scanning/
The PHP scripts themselves seem to be available from this page: /help/edit-servers-download-upload-speed/
You can also use iperf3 locally.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe might also consider putting the default speed test scripts at some CDN to improve overall experience. Stay tuned.
